How much does computer repair cost?

At GVAPC Electronics, we believe in transparent pricing. Our rates are:

  • Software Repair - $50: Virus removal, malware removal, speed optimization, OS installation, software troubleshooting
  • Hardware Repair - $100: Hardware diagnostics, component replacement, upgrades, screen replacement, keyboard repair
  • Gaming Console Repair - $150: PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo repair, disk drive issues, overheating fixes

No hidden fees! Parts (if needed) are additional and quoted before we start work.

Do you charge for diagnostics?

No! We offer free diagnostics. We'll assess your device, identify the problem, and give you an accurate quote before starting any work. You'll know exactly what's wrong and what it will cost to fix—no surprises.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), and debit cards. Payment is due when you pick up your repaired device.

Is there a minimum charge?

Our minimum service fee is $50 for software repairs. If the issue is more complex or requires hardware repair, we'll let you know the exact cost before proceeding. You're never locked into a repair you don't want.

What if my device isn't worth repairing?

We'll be honest with you. If repair costs exceed the device's value, we'll tell you. Sometimes buying a refurbished replacement from our shop makes more sense, and we'll recommend that option. Your trust is more important to us than any single sale.

Do you repair gaming consoles?

Absolutely! Gaming console repair is one of our specialties. We repair:

  • PlayStation (PS5, PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1)
  • Xbox (Series X/S, One, 360, Original)

  • Retro consoles through our PSP Central division

Do you repair Mac computers and MacBooks?

Yes! We have extensive experience repairing all Apple computers including MacBooks (Air, Pro, M1/M2), iMacs, Mac Minis, and Mac Pros. Services include screen replacement, battery service, logic board repair, SSD upgrades, RAM upgrades, and macOS installation/optimization.

Can you recover data from a dead hard drive?

Yes, we offer professional data recovery services. We can often recover data from failed hard drives, corrupted SSDs, and systems that won't boot. We'll evaluate your drive for free and let you know what's recoverable. Data recovery pricing starts at $100 depending on the severity of the failure.

Do you build custom gaming PCs?

Yes! We build custom gaming PCs tailored to your budget and performance needs. Whether you want a budget 1080p gaming rig or a high-end 4K powerhouse, we can spec out and build the perfect system for you. We also upgrade existing gaming PCs with better graphics cards, more RAM, faster storage, and improved cooling.

Can you remove viruses and malware?

Absolutely! Virus and malware removal is one of our most common services. For $50, we'll do a complete system scan, remove all viruses/malware/spyware, clean up browser hijackers, install security software, and give you tips to stay protected. Your computer will run like new again.

Do you sell refurbished computers?

Yes! We sell quality refurbished laptops and desktops at affordable prices. All our refurbished units are thoroughly tested, cleaned, and come with a warranty. We also sell refurbished gaming consoles through our PSP Central division. Visit our shop or call for current inventory.

How long does computer repair take?

Repair times vary depending on the issue:

  • Software repairs: Same day to 1 business day (virus removal, speed optimization, OS installation)
  • Hardware repairs: 1-3 business days (screen replacement, keyboard repair, component upgrades)
  • Gaming console repairs: 2-5 business days (depending on parts availability)
  • Data recovery: 1-7 days (depending on drive condition)

Do you offer same-day repair?

Yes! Many software repairs (virus removal, speed optimization, OS reinstallation) can be completed the same day, often within a few hours. Some hardware repairs can also be done same-day if we have the parts in stock. Call us at (972) 487-5936 to check same-day availability.

What is the repair process?

Our repair process is simple:

  1. Drop off or schedule pickup: Bring your device to our Garland shop or schedule pickup
  2. Free diagnostics: We assess the problem and provide a quote
  3. Approval: You approve the repair and cost (no obligation)
  4. Repair: Our technicians fix your device
  5. Testing: We thoroughly test to ensure everything works
  6. Pickup or delivery: You pick up your device or we deliver it

Will you contact me with updates?

Yes! We'll call or text you when diagnostics are complete with a quote. Once you approve the repair, we'll notify you when it's finished and ready for pickup. You're never left wondering about the status of your device.

Are walk-ins welcome or do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are always welcome! You can drop off your device anytime during business hours. However, if you'd like guaranteed service time or same-day service, we recommend booking an appointment online at cal.com/gvapc.

Do you offer pickup and delivery?

Yes! We offer convenient pickup and delivery service throughout Garland, Richardson, Rowlett, Sachse, and the surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth area. This is perfect if you can't make it to our shop or prefer the convenience of not driving. Call (972) 487-5936 to schedule pickup.

What is your warranty policy?

We stand behind our work! Software repairs come with a 30-day warranty. Hardware repairs and parts replacements include a 90-day warranty. If you experience the same issue within the warranty period, we'll fix it free of charge. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.

We're located at 4460 W. Walnut St. Suite 110, Garland, TX 75042. We're easy to find near Firewheel Town Center and Lake Ray Hubbard. Just 15 minutes from Richardson via US-75. Free parking available!

Is my data safe during repair?

Absolutely. We take data privacy seriously. Your personal files remain private and secure during the repair process. We only access what's necessary to diagnose and fix the issue. That said, we always recommend backing up important data before any repair—just in case!
